Geocaching

Ok, now that I've been hitting the trails, I think I may have found the link I needed between Geek and Outside.

I always discover these things WAY after they have already hit. It was the same with Portal Webs, LJ and Podcasting. Its like I hear of these things and they slide right out of the other ear.

So, I finally decided to go up to geocaching.com and see what it was all about, hit the FAQs and all that.

Turns out the trails I hit on Earth Day are FULL of Caches. Hell, we probably walked right by some and didn't notice. I downloaded some .loc files and used Google Earth to give me some point of reference.

Then I turned on the 3D Terrains and did some camera panning about. It looks like there are some great views I've yet to discover in that area, and I can get into a basic GPS unit for less than $100. Of course, I'll drool over some other models first, just to be sure I don't want to get a little extra memory or something.

Gah! The last thing I need is another damn hobby!! I think you may be right, S. Not so much a Geek and more of a Nerd.

Another hobby?
At least you don't have escaping Bowling Pins...

Two of them are missing now... I had twenty of them...
